Meet Alex Sirois

I was born and raised on Kaua‘i, and my parents introduced me to the real estate industry at a young age. After charting my own career path on O‘ahu and The Big Island, I returned home to project manage the buildout of a neighborhood in Kukui‘ula. Following that, I started my own successful interior design business, South & Home. Given the direct correlation between fine design and great real estate, where the two intersect is where I provide a unique competitive edge for our clients. My work has helped earn a Sirois Kaua‘i listing the title of “The Wall Street Journal House of the Year,” and two Sirois Kaua‘i listings “The Wall Street Journal House of the Week.”

I have never experienced a place, other than perhaps Costa Rica, where you can spend the day on a remote white sand beach, and the evening in a cozy mountain cabin in the forest. True “living on Kaua‘i” means that the island has received you, and you have immersed yourself in its history, culture, flow, rhythm, and of course, natural beauty. On Kaua‘i, it goes a long way to have an understanding of the way things were and are. I can’t think of another global tourist destination where the locals advocate for each other the way we do. Living with aloha on Kaua‘i is a way of life that is not only healthy for the body and spirit, but also greatly rewards you through the relationships you develop with nature and the local community.

I’m a southsider, born and bred, so I’m going to say that Poʻipū, Kōloa, and Kalāheo’s proximity to resources, the longer white sand beaches, along with mountains on the west side make these the top geographic areas. While the north shore is stunning in the summertime and on sunny days, and perfect for the weekend getaway, the opportunities for all day sunshine and overnight adventures on the south and west sides are unmatched throughout the year.

As an avid live music fan, I’ve enjoyed concerts around the world. Of the shows I’ve been to, the most memorable are Alanis Morissette, HAPA, Israel Kamakawiwo`ole, Post Malone, SZA, Kacey Musgraves, P!nk, The Chicks, HAIM, Santigold, MUNA, and H.E.R. Next up on my list is Zach Bryan and Billie Eilish. I grew up singing and playing the music of all my favorite artists, including Hawaiian music, so in addition to singing and playing ukulele, I’ve also picked up guitar in recent years.

As much as possible, I like for my work and life to blend together as one, allowing my clients to see the authentic me, which is when I’m at my best. I’m currently in training as a prospective member of Kaua‘i Search and Rescue (KSAR), and my wife and I give back to our local community by sponsoring the Kaua‘i Pride Parade. When I’m not giving back to my community or actively working on a deal or a project, I enjoy adventuring across the island with my wife, Taylor, and our dog babies, Liam and Mister. I love exploring new spots along the coast while open ocean swimming, 4-wheeling in the mountains, kayaking, camping, hiking, surfing, finding the best local food/restaurants on the island, and playing tennis or pickleball with my family. Taylor and I also enjoy traveling together and seeing live sporting events and shows, typically in metropolitan areas or international destinations.
